AMC Entertainment chooses Barco projection by Cinionic for first theater to open upon lifting of 35-year cinema ban
Cinionic, the Barco cinema joint venture, has installed its industry-leading Barco projector at the AMC Cinema Riyadh multiplex to bring high-quality cinema to first-time moviegoers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A new land of opportunity for Barco projection
The resurgence of the movie industry results from the social reforms promoted by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. The majority of the 32 million residents of the country are under 30, an audience that’s hungry for movies and cultural experiences. AMC plans to open 40 theaters comprising 300 screens across 15 cities over the next five years.
We have enjoyed great success with Barco projectors and are looking forward to a successful roll-out in the Kingdom.
“As a long-time customer of Barco, we are now proud to partner with Cinionic to bring an amazing entertainment experience to a new generation of moviegoers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Jason Cole, Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions and International Development. “We have enjoyed great success with Barco projectors and are looking forward to a successful roll-out in the Kingdom, with full confidence in their performance and reliability.”
Cinionic makes its mark in Saudi Arabia
With the largest portfolio in the industry (18 models), Barco Laser projectors offer a perfect match for every screen, enabling exhibitors to affordably outfit their entire multiplex with laser projection.
“The Middle East, and especially Saudi Arabia, presents a ripe opportunity for Cinionic to deliver premium cinema experiences to a market that’s expected to grow to 2,000 screens over a dozen years,” said Serge Plasch, Chief Commercial Officer for Cinionic. “We are ready to fully serve and support our partners to ensure the best moviegoing experience possible.”
